Choi Yoojung (최유정), also known by the mononym Yoojung, is a South Korean singer, rapper and actress under Fantagio. She is the main rapper, main dancer, lead vocalist and face of the girl group Weki Meki.
She was born on November 12, 1999 in Guri, Gyeonggi, South Korea.
Yoojung made her solo debut on September 14, 2022 with the single album "Sunflower".
History[]
Early life[]
Yoojung is an only child. She attended Inchang Elementary School. When she was younger, she wanted to become either a teacher or police officer but started to take an interest in performing. She attended Guri Girls' High School but eventually transferred to School of Performing Arts Seoul along with fellow I.O.I and Weki Meki member Kim Doyeon where she studied practical dance.
Produce 101 & I.O.I[]
Yoojung joined Fantagio and trained for four years and seven months under the company's i-Teen program, before joining Mnet's girl group survival show Produce 101 in 2016 where she first gained attention after being placed as the center for the performance of the show's theme song "Pick Me". Eventually, she ranked third in the finale and ended up debuting as a member of a temporary girl group I.O.I. On May 4, 2016, I.O.I released their debut single "Dream Girls" which had its rap parts written by Yoojung and Im Nayoung. She promoted with the group until January 2017, when I.O.I. disbanded.
Debut with Weki Meki[]
After I.O.I. disbanded, Yoojung and Doyeon returned to Fantagio. In February, the pair visited United States where they filmed a reality show titled "Dodaeng's Diary in LA", which aired in April.
On March 25, 2017, Yoojung greeted fans through the newly created VLIVE channel under the temporary name "i-Teen Girls". In the following days, other group members were introduced to the public, and later that year debuted as Weki Meki. She was announced as the main rapper, main dancer, vocalist, and face of the group.
In 2018, Yoojung became a member of the project girl group WJMK, a collaboration between Weki Meki and WJSN.
In September 2019, Yoojung and Suyeon participated in the survival show called V-1 (Vocal #1). Yoojung lost to Suyeon in the first episode.
Solo debut[]
On August 23, 2022, it was reported that Yoojung would make her solo debut in September.[1] On August 26, it was announced that she will release her first single album, "Sunflower", on September 14.[2]

Trivia[]
- She has a sunflower tattoo on the back of her neck. It was her late grandfather's nickname for her.
- She is closest with Doyeon as they were high school classmates, and participated in Produce 48 together. Despite the height difference, they are both 99-liners.
- She is the best in the group in impersonations and special talents.
- She doesn't do it often, but she can do an unassisted handstand from a kneeling bow, while tucking her hands around thecback of her neck, then finishing by doing a forward roll. This is why it's called "The Grand Bow".
- Her best subject was written English, and her worst was Maths.
- Her English name is Emily.
